Sirubari Village

Sirubari Village

“paradise is exactly like where you are right now…only much, much better.” This is the feeling a visitor gets after reaching Sirubari Village which is firmly located in Syangja District, Southeast of Pokhara. Standing at an altitude of 1700 meters above the sea level, this untainted Gurung helmet is about 4 hours uphill drive from Pokhara. An adventure buff can also hike this distance for an extensive escapade- the slopes, nature’s creations. Form June to September is the best time to holiday at the distinguishing village, though the rest of the months are also passable.Sirubari Village, Sirubari Villag tour
Besides the spectacular setting, the cultured and the hospitable people (mostly Gurungs) of the village is another attraction of the Sirubari Village.

character of the people generates the feeling of being at home to the visitor at once. The home stay style of accommodation in the village is another opportunity for the guest to get acquainted with their profound culture and simple extistence. The fusion of traditional and modern lifestyle was reflected by the gas geyser (water heater), rolls of toilet paper in the toilet, a well decorated dining table with the elegantly folded paper napkins- a fork and spoon stand, table salt, clean bedrooms etc.

The Sirubari dwellers seemed ever ready to welcome any visitors- be it domestic or international.

Besides rich culture and hospitality, there is a huge prospect of mountain biking and rock climbing in Sirubari. Similarly, Sirubari houses 60 different types of herbs and 15-16 types of wild animals which can be exploited as a study/research center in herbs and wildlife. At present, it was seen that the only activity for a tourist in Sirubari is a hike to the viewpoint in Thumro (popular for Sunrise view), which lies at 2300 m above the sea level and said to be a highest point in the south or Pokhara.

All the retired armies have tried to create Sirubari Village-a piece of heaven on earth, so it is hoped that their effort for years to develop this place as a tourist destination will pay them off in future. Also, the support they have been expecting from all the quarters will be endowed to them. So far, Sirubari has received various awards for being a model tourist village including PATA Gold Award 2001 which was conferred to the village in recognition to their constant effort to preserve their culture and tradition at its purest form.
